It has been a rollercoaster tournament for the Dream Team IV, who narrowly arrived in Brazil for their first match against Japan, and almost boycotted the quarter final against Denmark due to unhappiness over unpaid allowances.
Germany were the dominant side for most of the first half, but the Eagles managed to break out and create chances, and wasting most of them.
The scoreline might have been much more embarrassing for the Eagles, who were constantly saved by the top keeping of goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel.
As Nigeria continued to find the all-important equalizer, substitute Petersen put the nail in the coffin after scoring into an empty net in the 90th minute.
