Jamiu Bolarinwa also known as Doggext is a Nigerian hip-hop artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born on August 16, 1982 and was raised in Mushin, Nigeria. He started his music career in 1998 at his alma mater, Ansar Ud Deen College in Lagos, Nigeria, performing primarily at social night events on campus. While at Ansar, he was given the nickname Snoopy. However, at the same time, rapper DMX was an artist whose style and intensity he thoroughly enjoyed so he consequently created his own alter ego “DoggX” which was written as such to retain the "Dogg” in Snoop Doggy Dogg as well as to incorporate his newfound interest in the rapper DMX, but in late 1999, he made one last modification to the name, changing it from “DoggX” to “Doggext”.
Doggext’s lyrics are grounded in his perception of life, his milieu, and his jokes. He is often comical but never fails to drive his point home. Also, the manner in which he fuses American English with Yoruba -one of the main languages in Nigeria— keeps his flow diverse and his audience entertained. This style has earned him numerous comparison to the late Nigerian rapper, Dagrin; However, their lyrical content are not similar.
In 2002, Doggext relocated to the United States and he's currently in the studio working with different artists from United Kingdom, United States and also Nigeria. He was featured in SwaggaKings present Jacking for Beats mixtape. Doggext collaborated with EMX on If You Know, also with R & B artist Duncan Daniels on Do Me. Doggext's first project: D.J Kobe Presents Omo Mushin Mixtape was released on April 1st, 2011.
His hit track 'Holla @ Me Freestyle' is spreading through the internet and the video has been nominated for Best Male Video at Nigerian Promoters Association Awards 2011 in Atlanta and Doggext is scheduled to perform at Nigerian Reunion and Conference in Orlando Florida
