I’ve always said it. Nothing gives an artist credibility like putting up an amazing performance. It gives your fans a strong reason to love you and your music more. You leave a memorable experience in the minds of the audience and win over the hearts of new fans. It’s an all-round win. It is the exact reason why D’Banj is all over the news and trending on social media. His performance at the Afro Nation festival was astounding and the energy within the crowd was pure. Watching it gave me goosebumps. It was surreal.
As an artist, it cannot be overemphasized that you should take your craft seriously. This is the appropriate way to approach music as a career. Starting from your branding as an artist to the execution of your music to your stage performance, you must not mess around. It’s a craft and it ought to be treated as one. Your moves should be calculative and strategic. A good example of an artist to cite is Davido. From a little observation of the Fall crooner, you can tell that he plots his moves and does so with adeptness.
It is known that one of the best ways to earn as an artist is by organizing tours and concerts. It is even more important for an artist who’s based in Nigeria. There’s barely enough money to be made from streaming and music sales have been discouraging for many years now. This leaves the artist with a few options, touring and bookings for shows topping the list. A musician who is dedicated to the cause and understands the importance of delivering an impressive performance ensures to give his or her audience in large doses.
When you take a careful look at D’Banj’s career as a musician. It would serve you well to remember that the man has always termed himself an ‘entertainer’. His mission is to entertain the crowd. And that’s honestly one thing D’Banj has never failed to do. Since his days with Mo’Hits, the Koko master has mastered the craft of stage performance. He usually leaves his audience in awe, taking them on a climactic trip and making them beg for more. Imagine, in this day and age, D’Banj is still killing shows and crashing stages. It should be taught in schools.
People who attended the Afro Nation festival are going to forever remember watching D’Banj perform. Another exciting thing is that there was a lady who danced on stage while D’Banj performed. It was thrilling to see. The crowd turned up massively. That’s what they hoped to see and you could tell that their expectations were surpassed. Even though names like Wizkid, Mr. Eazi, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Afro B are synonymous with Afrobeats, we have D’Banj and Don Jazzy to thank for their immense contribution towards the success of the genre.
Without D’Banj’s Oliver Twist, it’s possible that Afrobeats wouldn’t have reached the level it is now. Both D’Banj and Don Jazzy have played a major role in pushing Afrobeats to international acclaim. People have taken to their social media pages to heap praises on D’Banj for his consistency and his capability to put up a good show.
After yesterday and tonight I hope you guys at Afronation will understand that it’s

The Afro Nation festival was held in Portugal this year. It’s a 4 day event and it has seen performances from acts like Adekunle Gold, Davido, MoStack, J Hus, D’Banj, Burna Boy, Stonebwoy, Wizkid, Teni Entertainer, and many others. The turnout has been beyond amazing. It’s interesting to see that there’s a huge crowd with a vested interest in the culture. Shout out to the guys behind the festival; Smade events, Live Nation, Catalyst Management, and others.
