Coca-Cola Continues to Refresh Big Brother Africa as BBA-7 launches

Lagos: May 3rd, 2012: Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, the premium beverage company, will this year repeat the much coveted feat it achieved in 2011 as the headline-sponsor of the highly entertaining reality show that has taken Africa by storm, the Big Brother StarGame. The 91-day show, which promises to be the biggest to date, will debut on cable television on Sunday, May 6, 2012.
According to the show producers, M-Net, the Big Brother StarGame is an international television reality show that involves participants from 14 African countries and is screened in 47 countries across Africa. Contestants in the show are selected from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This year, Big Brother Stargame introduces a twist in the format by allowing all contestants to be paired up at the point of signing up and entry into the reality TV show.. The contestants will stake their claim for the ultimate cash prize of $ 300,000. Viewers can tune in to watch the launch at 7.00pm on Sunday May 6, and thereafter, the show will be screened live 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 91 days on DSTV Channel 198, with repeat broadcast and highlight shows on Africa Magic.

Olufemi Ashipa, Brand Manager, Coca-Cola at Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, explains the rationale for the sponsorship “Love for Coca-Cola is among the strongest passions that Africa’s youth have in common. As a unifying brand, Coca-Cola continually seeks platforms, like Big Brother Africa, that narrow the geographic and cultural divides, connecting young people from across the continent to build a future filled with Optimism”.
The last two shows produced Nigerian winners, Uti Nwachukwu and Karen Igho, who have become celebrities, inspiring a generation of youth. Radio and television show host, IK Osakioduwa, will be making his fourth appearance at the show since taking on the role in 2009.
